I was pitching a genealogy class as a history or English elective. This project was to demonstrate what I would expect from the final student paper. As vital records can take months to obtain, I would allow indexes to be used. Ancestry is available for free at most libraries and was $5 a month for students. If the public library did not have access to newspapers, the local Family History Center has Newspaper Archives, or I hoped the school would be willing to get a subscription to Newspapers.com. The final project took me about 20 hours so I figured a student would need 40 hours or less to write the paper. Please consider subscribing as your support makes these projects possible.

Constance “Connie” Bentley about age 18 from Caduceus, the 1965 Springfield, Massachusetts, High School of Commerce yearbook, p. 32, imaged at Ancestry.com.
